Hey there,
After reading my last newsletter, someone told me to add a more personal touch to the next ones. I intend to play along and experiment with The Thursday Newsletter until I find the proper selection of content and tone of voice. I invite you to help me make this newsletter as valuable and enjoyable as it can get.
Let me know if you have any recommendations on style, topics, structure or anything else you consider relevant to this matter.
This time I’ll give it a more journal-y feel, so here we go:
💡 Interesting ideas
🏙 ️Cultural fit as the main criteria when choosing employers or collaborators
This week I went to not one but two video shooting sessions at my client’s offices. One of the services I sell as part of the cv30 team is a complete video & photo production kit for employers who want to express their company culture visually. The goal is to capture the company’s vibe and attract like-minded candidates. At cv30, we believe the right work environment is just as important as finding the right job. We put company culture to the forefront of career search, helping professionals find a team of amazing people and colleagues that will allow them – and their careers – to flourish.
It’s good to be back in our clients’ offices and interact with them face to face. Being around people other than my team was something I looked forward to. I’m not including my team in this equation because we already spend time together every workday. We skipped the work from home trend because we enjoy each other’s presence and prefer to work in the same space. Talking about the miracle of cultural fit…
👩💻 The habits behind being a blogger
It’s my third week writing articles for ancabatae.com. I know I have a long way to go until weekly writing becomes second nature, but I can already feel it getting easier.
I can’t help but compare this “enjoyable struggle” with the process of getting fit. When I first decided to become the kind of person who eats healthy and works out every other day, I had to remind myself I was in for the long run. This meant that even if it was tiring and sometimes painful, all I had to do was stick to the process and trust it would get better. Building habits comes with emotional discomfort, and the antidote is to keep going. What’s your experience with it?

🎙 ️Podcast: Rich Roll — Reinventing Your Life at 30, 40, and Beyond | The Tim Ferriss Show
During my workouts, I play random podcasts, and this one was as random as possible. I don’t know who Rich Roll is. Apparently, he is a podcaster himself, able to push his physical limits to great extents, even in his 50s. They talked about alcohol addiction and how addictions manifest in some way or another in all of us. These two quotes stayed with me:
| Mood follows action
Feelings are fleeting and deceptive. When you want to get something done, it’s better to start doing it instead of waiting for the right feeling to come up and propel you into action.
| Don’t ask what’s the addiction; ask what’s the pain.
Addiction manifests on a larger spectrum, from drug addiction to repeating self-deprecating thoughts or bad relationships. It is often a sign of a deeper wound that hasn’t been confronted and treated.
📚 Course: Productivity Masterclass – Principles and Tools to Boost Your Productivity with Ali Abdaal
I did this masterclass last weekend as part of my research on productivity and how can I juggle all the different areas of my life I’m interested in developing. Those areas are working, blogging, working out, eating healthy and spending time with loved ones. The course is nicely structured, and it goes through productivity myths, laws and powers. It includes exercises that can help you figure out how to manage your time and priorities better.
🖥️ Series: A Very Secret Service on Netflix
A French comedy series about the French Secret service in the ’60s. It was surprisingly funny and made me laugh out loud many times.
📱 App: Grammarly
Grammarly helps you with your writing but, unfortunately, doesn’t write for you. 😄 I knew it wasn’t enjoyable for my close ones to read and correct all my articles, so I did what any modern woman would do: search for an A.I. to replace my friends. I’m still testing it, it works well on spelling mistakes and sometimes gives good suggestions on rephrasing or using different words, but I’m not yet convinced. As mentioned, you still have to do the work, and some of its features don’t seem to work as advertised.
May the rest of your week be joyful, productive and balanced!
